It’s one of the biggest challenges of our time, affecting both the environment and human health, and while sometimes it seems to decrease, on the other hand, we contribute to its growth every day.

First of all, we can see pollution’s effects on our seas, rivers, and lakes. Water is one of the most polluted natural elements, and the main cause is human activity. A lot of plastic floats on the water’s surface or goes down to the depths, triggering marine wildlife. If we reduce plastic waste, the world will undoubtedly be much cleaner, and a good starting point could be choosing products that are not packaged in plastic, helping to reduce pollution both in water and in the air.

Moreover it’s important not to waste food. Cooking too much and then throwing it away leads to unnecessary waste of energy and water used to produce it. Instead of rejecting food, we could find ways to recycle it into new recipes or, even better, donate it to someone in need.

So making conscious choices, we can reduce our negative impact and move towards a cleaner, more sustainable world. Protecting the environment is not just a responsibility but a necessity for future generations.

Remember that ‘The future of our planet depends on the choices we make today.

By Gessica Luppino

Classe V D Liceo Scientifico

How many times today do we hear politicians and experts talking about air pollution?
